Become the First Pickleball Champion in Intramural League history!

The start of a new school year means another shot at being crowned an Intramural Champion! Intramural sports allow our students and alumni to stay active and compete with friends on campus. Our fun leagues are open to all skill levels, and we offer a variety of sports! This semester, you have another chance at becoming a champion due to our new Pickleball League!

Over the past couple of years, pickleball’s popularity has increased tremendously and has now found its way into the hearts of Long Beach State University students. Pickleball is named the fastest-growing sport in the United States for the third year in a row. It has become a fan favorite amongst some of our staff here at the SRWC!

So, how exactly do you play pickleball? Like tennis, pickleball is played on a small court with a low net, using paddles and a plastic ball. It can be played in singles or doubles. The game starts with an underhand serve, which must go diagonally across the net. After the serve, the ball must bounce once on each side before players can hit it in the air. Points are scored only by the serving team, and the first to reach 11 points wins.

Now that you’re a pickleball pro, go grab your friends and sign up for our Pickleball League! Preseason for our intramural leagues begins Sept. 23, and then it’s off to the races. See what teams will be named as our Fall 2024 Intramural Champions! Don’t miss your chance to become our first Inaugural Pickleball League Champions and secure your place in Intramurals history forever.
